Mudvayne, an American Rock Band from Orlando, FL., released their self-titled album on April 8th. This became the band's first studio album and was also their final album to feature bassist and founding member Bobby Hornsby. The following week, on April 15th, Mudvayne bought out its farewell tour. The farewell tour was long sold out due to the massive number of pre-sale tickets that were sold at a record breaking rate of $2.7 million dollars in just one day. The tour was extended into 2006, ending in mid-2008 with over 80 dates.Mudvayne's second studio album is called "The End of All Things to Come", which features new work by former guitarist Chad Grey, who left the band before their self-titled album was released, and was released June 16th 2000 through Eleven Seven Music. "The End of All Things to Come" is also the name of an upcoming DVD that will feature live footage from the band's last two tours. As of October 2005, it has sold roughly 135,000 copies in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan. In December 2005, drummer Aaron Gillespie said the band had been working on a fifth album. In January 2006, guitarist Greg Tribbett said that a new studio album was "definitely going to happen". A new studio album entitled "Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress" was released on April 8th 2008.In April 2005, bassist John Otto left the band due to personal reasons – he was replaced by former Adema member Ross Martin. In June of the same year, Mudvayne revealed that they had parted ways with their label Eleven Seven Music and would be releasing their fifth studio album independently on May 4th 2006. In a recent interview, Chad Gray said that he and the band had begun writing material for the follow-up to "L.D. 50". However, Gray commented "I don't think we'll be recording anything new until 2007, though." He went on to say that "2007 will definitely see more Mudvayne than ever before". On October 22nd 2005 at 12:00 am ET – Mudvayne set up a fake radio station – streaming – on their website and streaming live over the Internet 24 hours a day for all of October 2005. The site, dubbed "Independency Radio", featured Mudvayne brandishing new song titles such as "The Fix", "Necessary Evil", and "A Little Piece of Heaven". Mudvayne recently announced that they will be releasing their next studio album on April 6th 2007. The 6th of April will forever be known as the date Mudvayne released their self-titled album, Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress.
The band's music combines alternative metal, groove metal, nu metal and thrash metal with influences from death metal.
